Hey y’all, over the next few days I’m going to be out a lot and not very available, and come the 21st I’ll be on my way to the city and almost completely offline to monitor the group, so if you have any questions, message me, write on my wall, or tag me in your post.
With move in so close, I want to share a couple things. First, there’s this wonderful guide put up by the university that includes how to check in, when to check in, and what you cannot bring with you. Find all that information here.
Next, I’ve been getting asked a lot on mailing addresses. Above is a list with all of the addresses . Your room number is the entire number, minus the two letter coding unless you are in a building with separate towers. For example, in your housing assignment a room in Rubin on the thirteenth floor shows as RU-1333. Because there are not separate towers, you drop the RU- and only put the number. However, if your room is in Third North, you keep the first two letters so they know which tower you are in. Do NOT put “NYU”, “New York University” or the name of your residence hall on the shipping label.
A topic also commonly asked is when you may ship something to your dorm. Anything received before move in day will be sent back (except for those that move in early with sports teams or Project Outreach). If you feel that your package will not arrive prior to you, you may send it. For most students, I don’t recommend shipping anything any sooner than the 23rd or 24th with regular, not overnight, shipping. This really depends on where you are coming from though, as certain international students can ship before because of customs and those that live too close to the city shouldn’t send before the 24th just to be safe (however, if you live this close, you’re probably driving to the city and bringing everything with you anyways). Check the estimate shipping times and go off of the shortest.
Oh, and I REALLY hope I included all of the residence hall’s addresses. I’m not entirely sure which upperclassman halls are being used as overflow.
With all that said, safe travels, and I’ll see you during Welcome Week!
